Trials for PureVision contact lenses have now been discontinued across the entire range. While most PureVision lenses remain available for purchase, eye care professionals will no longer use PureVision lenses when fitting new contact lens patients.
PureVision Lenses Availability
PureVision contact lenses have not been fully discontinued at this time. Most variants remain available for purchase through opticians and online retailers, particularly for existing wearers.
Availability may vary by prescription and retailer, but the change currently applies only to trial lenses used during new contact lens fittings.
PureVision Trial Lenses Discontinued
Trials have been discontinued for all PureVision variants, including:
As a result, opticians will no longer initiate new fittings with PureVision lenses. Existing wearers may still be able to continue ordering their lenses, depending on availability.
Why Have PureVision Trials Been Discontinued?
PureVision lenses are based on earlier generations of silicone hydrogel technology. While they continue to perform well for many long-term wearers, newer monthly lenses now offer improved comfort, moisture retention, and updated fitting systems.
Because of this, opticians are increasingly encouraged to fit new patients with more modern contact lens platforms.
Recommended Alternatives to PureVision
Patients who would previously have been fitted with PureVision trial lenses are now commonly offered newer monthly lenses, including:
These lenses use newer materials and designs that focus on long-lasting comfort and high oxygen transmission.
What This Means for Existing Wearers
If you already wear PureVision lenses and are happy with them, there is no immediate need to switch. You may be able to continue buying them while stock remains available.
